Toni Zaffa grew up in a musical family and began studying voice and theatre at the Arts Theatre in Brisbane with director Alan Denby who cast her in Aladdin.

She then played the Sorceress in the Rock Opera, Sheik, Rattle & Roll at La Boite Theatre. Her family moved to Coolum Beach where she continued her voice and theatre training whilst finishing her education.

Toni left home for Sydney and toured nationally with the three-girl group, Beehive, singing Jazz & Pop.

She also toured with Ian Moss from Cold Chisel and Renee Geyer and worked extensively with 15 Piece bands like The Honky’s and The Sea of Horns.

She then launched her successful solo career with the Toni Zaffa Band appearing on film and television.

Toni represented The Australian Tourism Commission as the featured performer in their international campaign.

She also recorded voiceovers for commercials like “Shiseido” among many others.

Toni then refocused on Musical Theatre. “I missed the synthesis of voice, dance and acting.”

She studied at the Actor’s Center in Sydney under renowned Broadway director Stephen Lloyd Helper (Smokey Joes’ Café), and voice with Professor Philipisborn of the Sydney Conservatorium.

Harry M. Miller cast Toni in the coveted role of the Soul Sister in the Australian National Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. He wrote, “Toni Zaffa has an extraordinary voice and she is a credit to the industry”.

Kirk Pengilly from INXS and Richard Clapton co-wrote a song for Tina Turner. Kirk was searching for a powerhouse voice to do it justice when he heard Toni at a performance of Jesus Christ Superstar. He knew he had found that voice in Toni who recorded his song for Tina Turner.

Toni began her radio broadcasting career in Sydney with her own Jazz and Blues Show. Broadcasting was a natural fit. She brought her rich, silky voice combined with her wide personal repertoire and a lifetime of musical performance. Toni quickly gained broad appeal and other radio stations came calling… but Toni’s calling was for New York City.

In New York Toni studied under some of the most renowned vocal coaches in the world. She has performed in New York City at Don’t Tell Mamma, Chicago Blues, Red Eye Grill, Tribeca Blues, The Duplex and The Metropolitan Cafe with the David Letterman Band & Randy Brecker.

Toni who holds dual Australian/American citizenship has toured from Denver Colorado to Natchez Mississippi as the lead in a hit Musical Theatre Review. Toni has brought her unique vocal prowess to audiences from Los Angeles and Bourbon Street in New Orleans to Canada and from the Mississippi Delta to Off-Broadway shows in New York City.

Toni returned to her roots and lives on the Sunshine Coast touring with her seven-piece band "Funkzilla" covering a wide variety of music for overseas festivals, weddings, corporate and other social events.

She has also been the velvety voice in numerous national radio and television commercials.

Toni hosted a Weekend Jazz Show for two years at the ABC. “It’s great being back with family and friends. I especially enjoyed being the Queen of the Noosa Jazz Festival”.

Toni completed her Graduate studies at Griffith University’s, Conservatorium of Music. She is a contemporary and commercial singing voice specialist, style and performance coach. With her teaching accreditation and worldwide experience, Toni offers vocal tuition at all levels and really enjoys giving back.
